Artist's Comments

First off... let me tell you that absolutely hate using stock. Don't get me wrong... I love the stock I used, and I'm glad there is stock for me to use... put the process is so daunting of hunting down all the correct pages of all the stock you use, giving appropriate credit and etc.... it's just mind boggling.

But... I got sick of waiting for good models. I don't have any access to good models at the moment... so I said screw it!

This, does not fit into the Photography challenge, just because the feeling it gave me and the idea behind it, there is not a spot for on the challenge.

I made this with my friend in mind. Her birthday is coming up soon (Nov 11) and I wanted to make her a very nice picture. But, it's been a rough year, with a lot of shitty crap happening at almost every turn. However, I feel the winds of change heading at us in a very nice way. A wind of renewal. However, before you can walk away from the wreakage and become renewed, you must first be purified. So thus, I give you my newest deviation: Purify.

And now to the details! I used 7 different photos, 3 of them my own. The fire photos and the wings were mine. The two girls, the weird "tree room" photo and the forest through the sort of windowish thing are all four stock photos. I used one brush that wasn't my own, and besides that, everything else is my own doing.

The two girls =AttempteStock
The tree room ~BlackDove-stock
Forest *lucias-stock
Brush (for the two corners) ~anodyne-stock

And well... I think that is all.
Happy birthday Fallon. Hope everyone else enjoys. I want ADVANCED critiques people! Advanced! This is my first manip in WELL over a year. Tell me what you think!

***In progress: Adjustments to the right wing (bending it back just a tad) and the shadow on the wall behind the girl (there is no wing represented there) are going to be finished hopefully tomorrow.***

It's very nice, but I can't really see the burnt thing is a girl as well, only by the arm lying there. And what's the thing lying on her? A door or something?

Overall, I especially like the colours and the trees in the background, but I don't really get the concept.

She's in a box...

For the most part, its excellent. Very nicely done, fits well, nicely balanced, etc. The girl-in-box part, however, is a little off/awkward. Let me try and explain.

You can only see that there is a bottom of the box if you squint and look -really- hard, which makes the box a little difficult to imagine there. It's gorgeous, just- awkwardly placed by the root. I also did not think it was a girl in the box. The arm clearly gives it away, but it's just a tad tricky. So much fabric, so little gap in the opening, and so little actual girl, I guess.

Gorgeous manip. But you wanted picky, so there's my picky. Very well done, just a few box critiques.

I see what you mean about the box thing... I have another photo, without the dress part. Instead, there are legs coming out with the arm. Maybe better suited for this? I could switch it up really fast. I just couldn't find a better spot to put the box... because of the roots coming up. And I liked the dress... but I also want it work and people to understand.

What do you think?
